Healthy Diet

 

A healthy diet is the very basis of good health. Proper nutrition is the fuel that supports natural body functions.

 

Beware of all those foolish food myths that claims you should not eat certain foods. All natural foods are good nutritionally when eaten in moderation and balanced. Marked limitation of fat and salt are not always necessary and may lead to serious metabolic problems. (Natural sea salt is best) Check out the real scientific evidence ( not some predetermined research) and ignore the doomsayers and their followers who keep changing periodically.

 

The major problem foods are the carbohydrates.The various sugars and processed foods are the culprits for nutritional dysfunction. Avoid high fructose corn syrup. Look at the labels of soft drinks and many processed foods. Among the many scientific proofs was a U.S. Agriculture study that HFCS shortened the life of lab mice from their normal 2 years to 5 weeks..I realize we are not mice but there is obviously something wrong with this product. There are natural sweeteners available e.g. Stevia and Xylitol.

 

Natural does not always mean healthy or safe. Did you ever consider ingesting free growing mushrooms?

 

Have you ever heard of the cave man diet. Just imagine what they had to eat. They died early from trauma and infection not from malnutrition except during famines.

 

Did you realize that most solid foods contain water. Where is the scientific proof that that you must drink 8 glasses of water daily?  Bottled water may be a convenience but they are an expensive alternative . They may have spring water on their labels but most are just filtered or unfiltered tap or lake water. The taste is due to the plastic containers which leech out plasticizers which are noxious chemicals. I truly enjoy undoctored mountain spring water in glass or metal containers..It is a lot healthier and cheaper to filter your own tap water.

The Mediterranean diet

 

The Mediterranean diet has proven to be a benefit in .heart disease diabetes digestion and age related deterioration . The major ingredients are olive oil garlic and tomatoes (lycopine) there are no  reasons to take these as supplements but simply use in your regularly meals Lycopine has been hustled in supplement form which is just another attempt to make money. All you need is tomatoes with olive oil in your diet. I will prefer the extra Virgin olive oil.

 

There is no need to take garlic supplements as garlic is great in regular food preparation. If regular garlic is a problem as to digestive problems or smell just roast the small cloves for a few minutes. Natural fresh garlic is very peppery as it is good fresh  olive oil.
